Fashion Jewelry Hall of Fame Inducts Costume Jewelry Designers

(PRWEB) January 8, 2005

Robert Mandle, as the story goes is the namesake for the famous Mandolin brooches. Mandle sketched his first pin, a three-bell Christmas design while in the Armed Forces in Paris during World War II. Famous for his “Secret Heart” ring advertised in Seventeen Magazine in the 1960′s, Robert Mandle was also a recipient of the Swarovski Design Award in 1966. Robert was the son of Urie Mandle, who was a salesman for Coro and Lisner, two of the best-known manufacturers in costume jewelry history.

Walter Lample is known not just for his many diverse and entertaining styles of costume jewelry, including Art Deco, Retro, Orientalia, and charms with moving parts, but also for his innovative distribution system and the warm and personal business relationships he developed. Some of his most famous works include the “City of Tomorrow” World’s Fair charm, and the enameled “Patriot Pin”, which was designed as a reminder of the Pearl Harbor attack, and the enchanging, “Circus Pin”.

Ruth Kampke, an important name to costume jewelry historians, began her prolific career at age 15 working for Manhattan dress designers. Later, as an in-house designer of fashion jewelry for private label manufacturer Fallon & Kappel, Ruth designed jewelry lines that were sold under such prestigious names as Hattie Carnegie and Eisenberg, including “Eisenberg Ice”. Ruth would routinely produce 400-plus designs twice per year, with a supplemental “Cruise” collection in between the standard seasonal offerings. Her career in the costume jewelry industry spanned an extraordinary 48 years.

Guyot Brothers, participants as suppliers in the careers of many costume jewelry designers, recognizes some of the jewelry industry’s most famous and prolific designers, honoring those who built beautiful jewelry objects, rich in design and satisfying to the wearer.

As leading manufacturers of decorative stampings since 1904, Guyot Brothers continues to supply costume jewelry manufacturers and the related arts trades with high-quality filigree, charms, ornaments, and novelties in raw brass and sterling silver.

For viewing the line in person, the company has representatives in California, Arizona, New Mexico, New York, New Jersey, France, and England, as well as a showroom at their manufacturing plant in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the Birthplace of the Jewelry Industry in America.
